All were believed to have been dead for quite some time before their bodies were found.  A basin of burnt charcoal was found in the flat, leading investigators to suspect that the parents burned charcoal after administering pills to their son, local media reported.

The case, listed as murder and suicide, is being handled by the District Crime Squad of the Western District.  Post-mortem examinations would be conducted to ascertain the causes of their deaths.

Western Garden, which was developed by the Housing Society in 1982, had seen several cases of untimely deaths in the past, including a woman who plunged to her death in July 2007 and a man who hanged himself in December that year.
